Living Life on the Edge

Living Life on the Edge

Ah yes, according to my Rice Purity Score of a 57 I have been living my life on the edge. I didn’t even know it! Especially since I consider myself a fairly bland person.

I guess as soon as I start to think about how this test measures “purity” it makes me feel a bit uneasy. No one wants to be impure, that sounds bad and the associations that come with it are embarrassing. I don’t think this test is actually meant to measure purity or really defines purity the way other people or cultures would though. The only good thing is I took this test like a grain of salt and tried to view it as more of a fun/silly activity. I can totally see high schoolers gathered around and comparing scores. My favorite part of course was question 69, which stated:

69.) ?

Maybe that’s just my immature humor, but I couldn’t help but laugh. Obviously peoples scores will increase as they age and gain more life experience, but I wonder what this test would look like if people of different generations took it at the same age. I think most people would be surprised, but I bet if people were totally honest the scores would look fairly similar even as time goes on and groups of people have changes of view.

  1. I was pretty uneasy about taking this test as well! As soon as I starting reading some of the stuff, I was like, there is no way! But, I also rated near you, and I really don’t think the test is accurate – I definitely thought of it more like a game.
